LG’s Chacha Cricket Desktop App: Get live Cricket Alerts

The world cup is on, and so are the cricket lovers who want to stay updated with live happenings.

In case, you don’t have access to TV screens around you, here’s a desktop application that will keep you posted with live updates of Cricket World Cup Matches.

Brought to you by LG Electronics, this desktop application is called “LG’s Cacha Cricket” aimed at bring you live scores of cricket matches during the world cup.

This application has a very nice interface and contain different slogans which are played on start of the app and whenever a player hits FOUR, SIX or a WICKET FALLS.

The application is named after a Pakistani Cricket Fan Haji Abdul Jalil who is commonly known as the Chacha e Cricket.

Ufone Micro SD SIM for IPhone and IPad Introduced

Ufone has launched Micro SD SIMs, first time in Pakistan, used for iPhone 4, iPads and products / brands that require micro SIMs.

Details:

The new iPhone 4 and iPads are designed as such that they support only new generation of Micro SIMs, other global brands are also planning to launch products that require these phones.

These new SIMs function as normal standard SIMs and have the same capacity, the only difference is the smaller Chip Size. These new SIM will function on all products requiring micro SIMs.

Ufone, Nokia Partners for Internet Drive for Nokia C1

Ufone and Nokia have announced the launch of “My First Mobile Internet Screen” initiative; a low priced Nokia Handset with lowest priced Internet service in Pakistan by Ufone that will empower consumers to avail cheapest internet access ever offered in Pakistan.

The package deal will provide Internet facility by Ufone on Nokia C1 sets. The service will be pre-configured on these devices.

This was announced at a joint press conference held by CEO Ufone, Mr. Abdul Aziz and Imran Khalid Mahmood of Nokia who also spoke on future initiatives that the companies will be taking together to enhance the mobility experience for both Nokia and Ufone customers.

All Ufone customers who purchase the new Nokia C1; a low priced Nokia Handset will avail the lowest priced internet rates in the country. The idea behind the initiative is to give internet access to the masses and allow them to experience the World Wide Web for the first time especially while on the move.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Abdul Aziz, President and CEO, Ufone said,

“Both Ufone & Nokia have been at the forefront of all technological advancement in the telecom industry. We together have and shall ensure that we continue to give our customers the most advanced benefits in the country. The conference was also aimed at promoting sustainable environment. Ufone and Nokia customers can now help save the environment by being a part of the extremely important “Green Recycling” initiative. Nokia which announced its recycling program in Pakistan earlier last year is now poised for successful expansion of its environmental initiative.

Initially Nokia Recycling boxes were available at 10 Nokia Care outlets. However, with yet another exciting collaboration between Ufone and Nokia, Recycling boxes will now be placed at 24 Ufone Sales outlets across the country.

Furthermore, Ufone plans to bring extremely attractive value proposition on future Nokia smart phones for its High Value customers with most favorable usage plans, it is worthwhile to mention that last quarter 2010, Ufone and Nokia launched Nokia N8 and Nokia C3 devices with special data plans and the joint collaboration received tremendous response from the masses.

Telenor Intended for Urdu Website, But then Gave Up!

First uncovered by Arsalan Mir, it was revealed that Telenor invested time and resources to get Urdu version of its official website running, however, it looks that project is lost by now.
It was a good thought on Telenor’s end to come up with local language, an easy way for masses to understand the services and products. However, it is apparent that (urdu version of) website isn’t updated for at least a year or so.

Just to add that Urdu version of Easypaisa’s website has gone missing too.

In a recent seminar on 3G, all five cellular mobile operator have signed MoUs to boost localized applications, content and services.

So let’s not rule out the chances for the revival of this website. Moreover, other operators may also maintain Urdu section on their websites.
